Verkostonäkökulma korostuu vahvasti luonnonsuojelun suunnittelussa Suomessa ja maailmalla. Suojelualueita ei voi nähdä yksittäisinä eristyneinä alueina, vaan luonnonsuojelualueiden verkosto ja koko ympäröivä maisema ylläpitävät yhdessä tietyn alueen eliölajistoa. Parhaiden alueiden kytkeytyvyyden varmistamista ja verkostojen ylläpitämistä on myös ehdotettu ratkaisuksi biodiversiteetin säilyttämiselle, kun ilmastonmuutos pakottaa lajeja siirtymään uusille asuinalueille. Verkostonäkökulma kannattaa huomioida myös ennallistamiskohteiden valinnassa – mikä ei kuitenkaan ole yksiselitteistä ja helppoa. nonPeerReviewed

Partendo dal ritrovamento, presso l’Archivio di Stato di Palermo, di un inventario di beni confiscati a Manfredi Alagona nel 1393, il lavoro ricostruisce il percorso del tesoro delle regine siciliane (Costanza d’Aragona, Maria di Sicilia) che era stato incamerato dagli Alagona, potente famiglia di origine aragonese trapiantata in Sicilia. Uno studio dettagliato degli oggetti inventariati permette l’analisi di vari aspetti legati al costume e alla società sul finire del XIV secolo, dall’abbigliamento alla tavola, dal gusto e la moda del tempo alla cura della persona, dalla passione per i gioielli al culto per le reliquie. Anthropomorphic wooden reliquaries an integrated approach to restoration

Two wood anthropomorphic reliquaries, belonging to Lipsanoteca of Epiphany Church, Trapani (Italy), were restored following procedures based on an interdisciplinary approach. The historic-artistic contextualization, constitutive materials and executive techniques were defined. Degradation events were correlated to physical-chemical factors, with particular attention to biodeteriogens. Insect infestation was revealed, by optical (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of rosume and insect body remains, Anobium punctatum was identified. Long-term FRII jet evolution: Clues from three-dimensional simulations

We present a long-term numerical three-dimensional simulation of a relativistic outflow designed to be compared with previous results from axisymmetric, two-dimensional simulations, with existing analytical models and state-of-art observations. We follow the jet evolution from 1~kpc to 200~kpc, using a relativistic gas equation of state and a galactic profile for the ambient medium. We also show results from smaller scale simulations aimed to test convergence and different three-dimensional effects. Inuentiones and translationes of the relics are part of the hagiographic dossier of a saint and provide interesting information about his cult over the centuries. For S. Mercurius of Caesarea the original texts in Greek have been lost, but we have two collections miracles in Coptic that narrate the inuentio and translatio of his relics and there is also a medieval tradition about his translatio to Benevento (Italy). From all these texts is deduced a healing cult of S. Mercurius based on the usual topics.
